Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus)
Lemongrass is an excellent addition to the edible landscape, combining both looks, taste and aromatics. A fast growing, ornamental grass, it will grow between 2 to 4 feet tall in areas with full sun, at least 6 hours of strong sunlight a day (either indoors or outdoors). This plant like lots well drained soil with lots of heat, light and moisture, however, its best to let the soil get a bit dry vs watering daily. Shear plants to 6 inches high at the end of winter to stimulate the growth of new shoots in the spring when warm weather returns. If growing indoors, choose a large container, at least 12 inches diameter, to allow for a healthy root system and prevent the top-heavy plant from tipping.
